Ricardo R. Saavedra, Water/
Wastewater Division Manager for CUC, is a Class 4 operator in Water Treatment,
Wastewater Treatment and Class 3 Water Distribution. Ric has been with CUC the
past two years, originally stationed in Rota, as the Water Manager. In the last
six months on the Island of Saipan (as of February 2014).
Experience
Ric has over 35 years in the Water and Wastewater industry. Working in operations, construction management, managing both water and wastewater facility’s for both the private industry and public utilities, having worked in 6 west coast states as well as evaluations of equipment and construction operations in Europe and Asia.
Major Accomplishments, State of Washington Dept. of Health, Office of Drinking Water – Award for its Commitment to Public Health. First award to the facility in its 60 years of operation,
Awarded a major grant to replace, one 300 hp motor and 3,300 gpm pump and a 200 hp motor and 2,159 pump. At no cost to the City.
After a ten year old mandate from the USEPA, construction was undertaken and finished the first municipal Membrane Filtration Plant in the State of Washington.
Prior to living on Rota and Saipan,
From 2010 to 2012 Ric was the Superintendent for the Skagit Public Utility District, operating the most complex water treatment plant in the State. 20 mgd capacity with Chloramines for disinfection
From 2008 to 2010 Ric was the Wastewater Superintendent for the City of Arlington Washington, managing all areas of wastewater operation including construction manager of a new 42 million dollar upgrade. A 4 MGD Membrane Bioreactor.
Included in Ric’s work experience is the Managing a new Wastewater system from the ground up. To the formation of a board, working with funding agencies, DEQ, EPA, county, and engineering selection for the project.
