CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
GENERATOR OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
How well do you know your generator installations and what testing and maintenance activities are critical to making sure they perform when you need them? This course will cover basic stand by and portable generator configurations and the advantages and disadvantages of each. We will also cover the basic maintenance activities for the most common generator types. This course will start in the classroom and conclude with field visits to generator installations to go over specifics.

Participants will learn:

  • Basic generator connection configurations
  • Basic theory of operation and ATS types
  • Maintenance best practices
  • Basic troubleshooting steps

The recommended audience includes operators, managers, and board members.

PUMPS AND MOTORS TROUBLESHOOTING
How many times has this happened to you? You discover that one of your pumps is not performing like you think it should, or it will not run at all. What are your next steps? When should you call in an expert? These questions and more will be answered in the Pumps and Motors Troubleshooting session. This will be an extensive course in the most common pumping and electrical system issues that could leave you out of water.

Participants will learn:

  • Basic electrical concepts
  • Single versus three phase AC power
  • Electric motor troubleshooting and common issues
  • Basic types of centrifugal pumps and their characteristics
  • How to calculate TDH in a fluid pumping system
  • How to calculate friction loss

  • Centrifugal pump performance testing and troubleshooting techniques

The recommended audience includes system operators, technicians, and managers.

INTRO TO CORROSION CONTROLDo you have corrosion issues in your system? Do you have active corrosion control equipment that needs maintenance? Have you noticed failing coatings on steel tanks or exposed metallic piping? Corrosion is likely in many places in your system, especially near coastal areas. This workshop will give you the information and resources on how to start a corrosion control program that fits your system.

Participants will learn:

  • How to identify potential corrosion issues with dissimilar materials
  • How corrosion occurs and ways it can be prevented
