Mark E. Nelson, P.G.
Mark Nelson, P.G., is a Principal with Horsley Witten Group, Inc (HW), responsible for the firm's wastewater planning and water resource projects. He has over 25 years of experience in wastewater planning, land use assessments, permitting of water supply and wastewater projects, groundwater modeling, surface water modeling, and hydrogeologic investigations for state, tribal, and local governments and private clients. He currently serves as the Program Manager for HW's $17 million contract with the EPA Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, providing technical advice on source water protection, water security, and the Underground Injection Control Program. Mark has provided technical assistance and training to EPA since 1992. Most recently, he has been working with OWM and OWOW to provide technical, training, and outreach support on water and wastewater infrastructure planning and management, and watershed protection practices. He has developed functional and tabletop exercises, and taught more than 30 workshops on emergency response planning, the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) for water and wastewater operators and government officials across the country.
