The Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality (BECQ), Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Safe Drinking Water Program hosted a Water Operator Certification Exam Preparation class specifically for water operators attempting to take the Water Distribution Grade 1 or 2 certification exams. This class took place during the first two weeks of April 2025 (including Monday March 31), for three hours a day (8 – 11 am) five days a week, for a total of 30 hours of instruction. This class was FREE but was limited to 20 participants. The class was open to anyone working in the drinking water industry (public or private) or anyone wishing to become certified as a water distribution operator. Priority was given to existing CNMI water systems that did not currently have a certified water operator. Participants earned up to 30 hours (depending on their attendance) of continuing education towards maintaining their existing certifications.
Materials: A copy of Water System Operations (WSO) Water Distribution, Grade 1&2; AWWA; 2016, was provided to each participant.
Additional on-line resources were also provided including a Google Classroom site, where pdfs of all PowerPoints were linked, as well as links to all AWWA videos and YouTube videos viewed during class. Several software programs to assist in studying for the certification exams was provided for download from the Google Classroom.
